We built the Read Your Soil App bring our expertise to your fingertips. The app allows you to determine multiple critical parameters of your soil like:
- Bulk Density / Compaction (not reliably determined by a soil testing lab receiving a shipped sample)
- Water Infiltratoin (not reliably determined by a soil testing lab receiving a shipped sample)
- Topsoil Depth (not reliably determined by a soil testing lab receiving a shipped sample)
- Rooting Depth (not reliably determined by a soil testing lab receiving a shipped sample)
- Soil Biology Health (not reliably determined by a soil testing lab receiving a shipped sample)
- pH
- Soil Texture
- Topsoil Color
- Electrical Conductivity
As you can see, many critical physical and biological properties of a soil cannot reliably be determined by a soil testing lab from a shipped sample. So even if you have access to a soil testing lab, this app will allow you to gain a greater understanding of your soil beyond a soil test report. In the case that you don’t have access to a lab and are unsure of the nutrient status of your soil, we have included a wide variety of crops and their specific nutrient deficiency symptoms. The app is designed to help correlate your observations to ensure you can correctly identify nutrients deficient in your soil base on your nutrient deficiency symptom observations. With your observations and the results of tests you can perform yourself, the app creates a customized recommendation for you so you know exactly how to improve your soil’s health.
